This wondrous device allows you to convert vis directly into energy that can then be used by machines of all sorts. The amount of vis that can be converted into energy varies with the phase of the moon. The Thaumic Generator is slightly less efficient than equivalent machines in Buildcraft, RedPower and Industrialcraft2, but does have some benefits over their more mundane counterparts.
Full moon - 150 eu per 1 vis (for Thaumcraft 2).
If used to power Industrial Craft machines it is capable of generating up to 15 EU per tick.
If used to power BuildCraft machines it can generate up to 2 MJ per tick which is the equivalent of 2 steam engines or a combustion engine running on oil. The generator cannot overheat nor does it need cooling.
If used to power RedPower machines it generates up to 8 watts of energy (the same as 4 solar panels).

The Thaumic Generator can be powered by either connecting it directly to a conduit network, or it can draw power from a node within range. It is able to draw much less power from nodes than it can from conduits, thus cutting its power generation in half.
Applying a redstone signal to a Thaumic Generator will switch it off.
