Lamps are glass blocks that, when powered by a Redstone signal, emit light equal to that of a torch. Depending on the color of Lumar used in their construction, the lamp will correspond to that color, which means that there are a total of 16 different color lamps. However, though the Lamp itself will still light up as its crafted color, the radiant light it casts will always be white light (even the black lamps emit white light.)
Lamps in different colors can be used for a variety of purposes which are mostly aesthetic, but some practical uses include serving as Indicator Lights on Redstone circuits and for IOX testing with computers.

Lumar is used in redpower lighting blocks; it is created using a redstone, glowstone dust and 2 dye of the same colour to produce 2 lumar (2 lumar is used to produce 1 Lamp.)
There is a lumar for each colour of dye.
